An Attitude of Gratitude

July 18, 2017

It’s my birthday week but, I’m honestly not feeling very festive. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to have made it through another year of life and I’m not bummed about growing older. I appreciate that I get to live this amazing life. There are just some personal matters of the heart that have got me down. So, to help get myself out of my head I wrote this list of 10 things I am grateful for this year. Reminding yourself of the things that you are lucky to have and are grateful for can help you change your train of thought. When the little voice in my head starts to speak negatively to me I have started to actively think of something that I am thankful for, that makes me happy and have feelings of appreciation for life. I’m going to try to share a list of 10 things I am grateful for each month, starting with my birthday month.

I’m grateful for…

  1. Another trip around the sun
  2. The family & friends who want to celebrate this life with me
  3. Barely and his unconditional love & snuggles
  4. The adventures I’ve been able to take over the past year
  5. The new friendships that have blossomed
  6. The opportunities for growth I’ve been presented with
  7. The people and places that feel like home
  8. Living so close to the ocean where I can go and feel cleansed by the salt and the sunshine
  9. The most supportive yoga community I have immersed myself in
  10. My amazing parents and the role models they have been for me

This is such a good idea to fend off those negative thoughts that can ruin a good day! I should try to do this too! 🙂

It has worked for me but it doesn’t mean that it is always easy to get your head out of its downward spiral. You just have to be persistent with yourself and continue to remind yourself what you are grateful for in that moment
