I’ve been going out surfing with my dad more often this year, trying to get back into it and also getting him back into his favorite sport since his shoulder surgery. It’s nice to be relearning something with you dad. Granted I doubt he could ever forget how to surf, it’s nice to have him there to give me tips so that I can catch a few more waves. Each time we go out I feel a little more confident in my abilities, and I get the vibe that he feels the same way. This is really nice since surfing has never been a hobby that I’ve felt super confident with – um big waves, tiny human – and it’s awesome to see my dad being able to go back in the water and catch some waves.
I went through a phase in high school where I wouldn’t go out surfing with my dad and sister because I felt like I wasn’t good at it. Which was kind of a ridiculous thing for me to do, since I can’t exactly get any better by not going out in the water. Anyways, my best friend Marian asked me to teach her how to surf and being able to teach someone else the basics gave me the confidence to start going out more often. Now, I have a more modified version of my insecurity where I really only want to go out surfing where there are not a lot of other people out and only with my friends and family that I feel comfortable making a complete fool out of myself around.

July 10, 2017 at 6:26 pmThis design is wicked! You most certainly know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, alsa;t…mHoHa!) Wonderful job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
