There are seriously so many photos from this day that I cannot wait to share…just gotta write up some more posts, which I have been slacking on.
A couple weeks ago Chelsea, Janna and I hopped in my car and drove an hour to Holland Farms’ beautiful sunflower field. The week before we went Chelsea tagged me in their Facebook post about the sunflowers blooming and I instantly messaged them to book a time to go take photos in their field.
When we pulled up we passed a smaller patch of sunflowers right by the road and we were so excited! So when I went to go pay for our time slot and the man behind the counter asked me if I knew where I was going I was like “oh yeah, I know where they are we just passed them!” He just gave me a knowing smile and told me that there was actually a bigger field – you can imagine my excitement at this point. He gave me directions to follow the road right behind their building which led to not only the sunflowers but a cute barn where they hold events.
We had to get to the farm by 6 pm to pay them before they closed up shop, but we were allowed to hang out there for as long as we liked. Gotta love good & trusting people! Our goal was to get golden hour/sunset photos so we ended up staying there for 3 hours going in and out of hiding in the car for cold AC and braving the intense sun and heat for photos, aka sweating and drinking all of our water.
We had so much fun though. We ran barefoot through the field, played on a wooden swing, found some amazing filtered light to shoot in, and hung out around an old truck that was 100% full of sketchy spider webs.
I’m so thankful to have such amazing friends who will plan a day to go frolicking through sunflower fields with me and brave the ant bites and huge bees just to have fun taking some photos and watching an amazing sunset.
